The COP31 Digital Coordination Center, launched by the Zero Waste Foundation ahead of the COP31 process to expand the scope of participation of non-state actors, has started collecting ideas from all stakeholders.

The Zero Waste Foundation has brought the COP31 Digital Coordination Center to life to ensure the strongest representation of all stakeholders in the COP31 process, which will be hosted by Türkiye in Antalya on November 9-20.

The works of the COP31 Digital Coordination Center are carried out by the Zero Waste Foundation and the COP31 High-Level Climate Champion Office. First Lady Emine Erdoğan, Founder of the Zero Waste Movement, Chair of the United Nations Advisory Board of Eminent Persons on Zero Waste, and Honorary President of the Zero Waste Foundation, evaluated the center with these words: "The 'COP31 Digital Coordination Center', brought to life by our Zero Waste Foundation, brings together the voices of non-governmental organizations, the private sector, and our citizens on the same ground. I wholeheartedly believe that this meaningful step will be instrumental in realizing the COP31 process with a more active, fairer, and broad-based participation. I hope that everyone who is nature-friendly will convey their ideas to the digital center, which will accelerate sustainable transformation, and become a stakeholder in global climate diplomacy."

Serving as a digital hub within the scope of the 31st Conference of the Parties (COP31) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the COP31 Digital Coordination Center operates as an active platform where individuals and institutions share their ideas. Through the center, institutions can also submit their applications to become a stakeholder in the COP31 process.

By bringing individuals, the private sector, and non-governmental organizations together on the same ground, the COP31 Digital Coordination Center aims to make participation in the COP31 summit to be held in Türkiye more active, fairer, and broad-based.

"The Agenda to be Discussed at COP Summits Must Align with the Reality of Societies"

Zero Waste Foundation President and COP31 High-Level Climate Champion Samed Ağırbaş stated that ideas and demands from 197 countries are being collected at the COP31 Digital Coordination Center, and these views and suggestions will be discussed at the climate summit. Ağırbaş emphasized that the agenda to be addressed at COP summits must align with the reality of societies.

In the "Share Your Idea" section available at https://cop.sifiratikvakfi.org/, participant information is filled out, and ideas regarding COP31 are submitted according to areas of expertise. Ideas can also be collected as files in various digital formats.

The ideas submitted to the COP31 Digital Coordination Center are categorized by criteria such as alignment with the climate and sustainability agenda, harmony with COP31 Türkiye, and thematic focus; while they are addressed with comprehensive evaluations such as expected impact, target audience, geographical scope, scalability, replicability, and the readiness level of the idea.

In the applications collected from the Become a Stakeholder page on the website, the aim is to establish partnerships aligned with the priorities of the UNFCCC and to ensure the broad participation of organizations wishing to contribute to COP31 Türkiye. The Become a Stakeholder page, which requests institutional information and the institution's experiences within the scope of climate action, aims for the extensive involvement of organizations wanting to contribute to the summit.

The Zero Waste Foundation and the COP31 High-Level Climate Champion Office consider COP31, to be held in Türkiye, as an important platform for global climate action to resonate with large masses, ensuring that the decisions to be taken align with the realities of societies.
