A protocol was signed between the Zero Waste Foundation and London Climate Action Week (LCAW) to strengthen international cooperation in the fields of climate action, zero waste, and the circular economy.
While efforts to expand the scope of climate action and bring concrete solutions to the global agenda continue during Türkiye's COP31 Presidency, a cooperation protocol was signed between the Zero Waste Foundation and London Climate Action Week (LCAW). The protocol aims to increase the visibility of the zero waste and circular economy approach in the global climate action agenda, strengthen knowledge and experience sharing among international stakeholders, and develop joint initiatives.
The Zero Waste Movement, which has gained global momentum under the leadership of First Lady Emine Erdoğan, Founder of the Zero Waste Movement, Chairperson of the United Nations Advisory Board of Eminent Persons on Zero Waste, and Honorary Chairperson of the Zero Waste Foundation, is consolidating its place on the international agenda as one of the key components of combating climate change during Türkiye's COP31 Presidency.
In the COP31 process led by Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change and COP31 President Murat Kurum, approaches aimed at reducing emissions and increasing resilience against the impacts of climate change, as well as efficient resource utilization, waste reduction, and strengthening the circular economy, come to the forefront.
In this context, the protocol signed between the Zero Waste Foundation and LCAW creates a significant collaborative ground for integrating the zero waste and circular economy approach more strongly into global climate action on the road to COP31.
Global Collaborations Strengthen on the COP31 Agenda
Under the protocol signed by Zero Waste Foundation President and COP31 High-Level Climate Champion Samed Ağırbaş and Climate Action Founder and CEO Nick Henry, the cooperation between the two organizations is envisioned to be developed through joint events, programs, and international efforts in the coming period.

Climate Action Extending from London to Antalya
Founded in 2019, London Climate Action Week brings together governments, cities, the business world, financial institutions, academia, civil society, and local communities to contribute to the development of collaborations in the field of climate action.
During LCAW, held between June 20-28, 2026, different dimensions of the climate agenda were discussed, primarily energy transition, climate finance, resilience, innovation, cities, circular economy, and sustainable production and consumption models.
The Zero Waste Foundation also brought the zero waste approach to the global climate action agenda through its activities within the scope of LCAW 2026. While the Foundation's work was shared with international participants at the booth set up during LCAW, Zero Waste Foundation President and COP31 High-Level Climate Champion Samed Ağırbaş participated as a speaker in various programs.
The contacts established in London aim to contribute to strengthening international dialogue in the fields of zero waste and the circular economy during Türkiye's COP31 Presidency and lay the groundwork for developing new partnerships in the process leading up to COP31 in Antalya.
Joint Efforts for Zero Waste and Circular Economy
Under the protocol, it is planned to develop mutual knowledge and experience sharing between the Zero Waste Foundation and the London Climate Action Week ecosystem, evaluate joint events and programs, increase international awareness in the fields of zero waste and the circular economy, and carry out work that will bring together stakeholders from different sectors.
Through this cooperation, it is aimed to form a complementary structure between LCAW’s broad climate action network and the Zero Waste Foundation's international zero waste efforts. It is also intended to transform the contacts developed within the scope of LCAW into long-term collaborations via platforms like the Global Zero Waste Forum, which brings together the international zero waste agenda of the Zero Waste Foundation.
The cooperation between the Zero Waste Foundation and London Climate Action Week is expected to contribute to addressing the zero waste and circular economy approach more strongly as one of the fundamental components of climate action during the COP31 process and to developing concrete solutions on a global scale.
