Türkiye's COP31 and Zero Waste Vision Introduced at Ambassadors Conference

The Zero Waste Exhibition, brought to life by the Zero Waste Foundation within the scope of the 16th Ambassadors Conference held at Beştepe Nation's Exhibition Hall with the theme "Foreign Policy Generating Peace, Stability, and Prosperity," attracted great interest. Reflecting Türkiye's vision in the fields of environment, climate, and sustainability, the exhibition was visited by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and First Lady Emine Erdoğan, Ministers, Ambassadors, and their spouses.

The Zero Waste Movement, one of Türkiye's strongest visions on an international scale in the fields of environment, climate, and sustainability, continues to be strongly represented on the ground of international diplomacy. In this context, the Zero Waste Exhibition was visited by our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his esteemed wife, the Honorary President of the Zero Waste Foundation, First Lady Emine Erdoğan, as well as ministers, ambassadors, and ambassadors' spouses.

COP31 Vision and Declaration of Goodwill at the Exhibition

The exhibition area included a panel explaining the historical process of the Zero Waste Movement, an information panel regarding the COP31 process, a forum photo corner, and goodwill declaration stands. Ministers, ambassadors, and their spouses visited the exhibition area and received information about the development process of the Zero Waste Movement, the works of the Zero Waste Foundation, the COP31 vision, and global goals. Visitors who also toured the 'Declaration of Goodwill' stands were both informed about the issue and signed the goodwill declarations.

During the visit, information regarding the work carried out by the Zero Waste Foundation and the process was conveyed by Foundation President Samed Ağırbaş.

"It is Important to Increase Awareness Regarding Zero Waste"

Addressing the risks posed by environmental problems, pollution, and the climate crisis for the future of humanity in his speech within the scope of the conference, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan emphasized that Türkiye assumes responsibility in the global fight against the climate crisis in line with its 2053 vision. Pointing to the point reached by the Zero Waste Movement, President Erdoğan expressed the importance of increasing zero waste awareness on a global scale and disseminating best practices.

"Our Zero Waste project, carried out under the auspices of my wife, First Lady Emine Erdoğan, has become an initiative that sets an example for the world today. In the coming period, it is important for us to increase awareness regarding zero waste and to identify the best zero waste practices worldwide and implement them at national and global levels. As you know, next year, we will host the COP31 Summit in Antalya."

“Our Ambassadors' Zero Waste Efforts are Extremely Valuable”

Founder of the Zero Waste Movement and Honorary President of the Zero Waste Foundation, First Lady Emine Erdoğan, expressed her satisfaction in coming together with ambassadors and their spouses in her social media post regarding the 16th Ambassadors Conference:

"Within the scope of the 16th Ambassadors Conference held with the theme 'Foreign Policy Generating Peace, Stability, and Prosperity', we were pleased to come together with our ambassadors and their esteemed spouses. On the occasion of this meaningful meeting, we visited the exhibition reflecting the journey of the #ZeroWaste movement spreading to the world and our country's strong vision in the COP31 process. The efforts of our ambassadors representing Türkiye in different geographies to disseminate the universal message of the #ZeroWaste movement in the countries where they serve are extremely valuable."

The exhibition, which makes the international dimension of the works carried out by the Zero Waste Foundation with the understanding of "The World is Our Common Home" visible, created an important example of environmental diplomacy by bringing Türkiye's strong vision regarding the COP31 process together with diplomatic circles.
