Yobel Novian Putra

Yobel Novian Putra is the Climate Policy Officer for GAIA Global. Trained as an environmental engineer, he started his zero waste journey after learning of the catastrophic landfill avalanche that killed 143 people, including waste pickers, near his hometown in Bandung, Indonesia. Prior to joining GAIA, Yobel worked as a policy advocacy staff at YPBB Bandung and co-coordinated Aliansi Zero Waste Indonesia. For over 4 years, Yobel led a divestment campaign on waste incineration backed by Multinational Development Banks at GAIA Asia Pacific. Currently, his focus area is on waste, finance, and climate policies that are anchored in environmental justice principles.
