COP31 Blue Zone Speaker
CEO and Founder
Maritime Procurement Services (MPS)
Alejandro Trillo leads MPS, the Mexican company with the most port reception facility (PRF) authorizations in the country. He believes ocean protection starts in ports and on coastlines, not only at sea. Across 14 MARPOL-certified ports, MPS turns waste from ships and cruise vessels into recovered materials through circular-economy solutions. This keeps the waste out of the ocean and out of landfills, and it cuts emissions.
Through SAVE 2030 (Sites of Added Value for Ecosystems), he brings the same approach to the coast. SAVE is a coastal stewardship platform that brings many partners together. It combines ecosystem restoration, community engagement, waste traceability and evidence-based impact reporting. At Ixpalbarco in Cozumel alone, SAVE has restored 2,200 m of beach and recovered nearly 2.5 tonnes of waste from more than 7 countries. MPS is also developing blue carbon projects in seagrass and mangroves.
As a NAMEPA Board Member, he is leading the launch of MEXMEPA, NAMEPA's first chapter in Mexico. It aims to unite the maritime industry, authorities and communities around a healthy ocean. He has spoken at the IMO, CIP-OAS and Seatrade.
"One action creates a wave. Many waves change the sea."
